The members of AAAP are committed to:

  • Developing management and leadership skills through formal initiatives of the AAAP such as annual meetings, regional meetings and collaborative conference calls
  • Serving as a resource to other members by formal and informal networking opportunities
  • Participating in discussions and projects with colleagues across the United States and Canada
  • Sharing updates on issues and trends in academic Pediatric administration
  • Participating in surveys such as the annual Compensation and Productivity Survey, and others pertinent to the mission of the AAAP.

Finance and Legal Committee

Chair: President Elect

Members include the Treasurer (ex officio); others drawn from active members. Non-board members serve 2 year terms with half of these members up for replacement or renewal of appointment per year.

  • Reviews financial policies, makes recommendations for changes as needed
  • Proposes an investment plan for the organization’s reserve fund
  • Oversees activities of Treasurer
  • Reviews problems and questions regarding financial or legal issues and offers resolutions

 

Fundraising

Chair: President Elect

Membership: Site Host, Program Director, Program Director -Elect, Treasurer (ex officio)

  • Develops and executes fundraising campaign for annual educational meeting

 

 Bylaws Committee

Chair: Past President

Membership: drawn from the active members

  • Reviews Bylaws for accuracy in content; proofreads Bylaws
  • Solicits Board members for “stumbling blocks” that may require changes
  • Reviews minutes of meetings for resolutions that need to be translated into Bylaws changes
  • Makes recommendations to membership re: changes:
    • match with practice
    • simplicity
    • clarity of language
  • Provides appropriate notification to membership regarding recommended changes to be discussed at upcoming annual meeting.

 

Nominating Committee

Chair: Past President

Members: drawn from active members

  • Draws up a slate of nominations for Board member openings to be presented to the members at the annual business meeting

 

Travel Assistance

Chair and 2 additional members drawn from active members; the Treasurer is also an ex officio member of this committee

  • Review all applications to the Travel Assistance Program for the annual educational meeting
  • Make recommendations to the Treasurer for disbursement of funds to applicants per the Policies for Financial and Legal Operations

 

Site Selection

Chair and 2-3 members drawn from the active members

  • Determines potential active member Site Hosts for annual meeting
  • Polls membership for preference of meeting location identified with potential Site Hosts
  • Recommends final location to the Board

 

Communications Committee

Chair: Member-at-Large (Newsletter)

Members to include the Webmaster

  • Recommends best uses of the newsletter and website for the exchange of information, and for communication to and among organization members

 

Institutional Profile Committee

Chair and 2-3 members: drawn from the active members

  • Develop the content requirements, format, and member questionnaire for the biannual Institutional Profile report.
  • Work with AAAP Board and members and other organizations such as AMSPDC to develop benchmarking indicators to be included with other Institutional Profile data.
  • Collate and organize replies into a user-friendly report to be distributed to members; arrange for the distribution of the report to members.
