Our purpose and objective is dedicated to the professional development of administrators who support the improvement of health care delivery, education, and research in Departments of Pediatrics.
Membership in the AAAP provides an exchange of information that facilitates the professional development of pediatric administrators, interaction with colleagues to realize your career goals, and a forum for discussion of the management issues in academic pediatrics programs.
Benefits include the annual Faculty Compensation Survey, the annual AAAP Educational Meeting, regional meetings, networking opportunities, a membership directory, access to AAAP list service for surveying members, and the quarterly newsletter.
The organization has one annual meeting in May of each year and regional meetings throughout the country, typically in the fall. There are five regions: Canada, Northeast, Southern, Midwestern and Western. The regional meetings are open to all members. Other benefits of membership include Annual Faculty Compensation Survey; Access to AAAP list service for surveying members; Membership Directory; and a Quarterly Newsletter. Annual dues are $250. AAAP has three categories of membership:

Active Members Active membership shall be limited to those who meet the criteria:

Works in a Pediatric Department which is part of an accredited medical school of the Association of American Medical Colleges and is involved in teaching, research, and patient services; or works in a Pediatric Department that is affiliated with an accredited medical school of the Association of American Medical Colleges and is involved in teaching, research, and patient services; and

The individual holds an administrative position in the Pediatric Department, and
-
Eligibility is confirmed in writing by the Senior Administrator, if a member of the AAAP, or Chairperson.

Adjunct Members At such time that an active member changes his/her professional career and is no longer serving in a managerial capacity with an academic Pediatric group, he/she may submit a written request to the Board of Directors for a change in membership status from active membership status to adjunct membership status.

Emeritus Member At such time that an active member has met his/her institution's criteria for retirement and retires from his/her professional career and is no longer serving in a managerial capacity with an academic Pediatric group, he/she may submit a written request to the Board of Directors for a change in membership status from active membership status to emeritus membership status.
